Nearly 40 people attended the first joint initiative between the Hertfordshire Cricket Grounds Association & the Bedfordshire Cricket Grounds Committee as the Annual Spring Grounds Seminar was held at Flitwick CC on Saturday 25th February.
The 3 hour event gave attendees the opportunity to take in presentations around:
The refreshment periods before and at the end of the event offered time for attendees to network and chat to each other about their particular grounds and processes, which is often very beneficial.
The next initiative between the two organisations is taking place in April:
Foundation A Course

This course raise’s awareness of what is involved in preparing cricket surfaces ready for the playing season and then how to maintain them during the playing season.
The Level 1 courses are ideal for volunteers, new employees or just as a refresher for established Groundsmen.
Course programme includes:
Definition of surface, Assessment of surface, Early spring maintenance, Mowing Scarification and brushing, Irrigation Rolling. Fertiliser application, Preparing the square, Preparation of a match pitch, Pitch repair and renovation Maintenance of the outfield, Maintenance of non-turf pitches, Turf problems: Weeds, pests and diseases, Safe and effective use of equipment
