Knebworth Park CC played host to a fantastic day of cricket yesterday as four village clubs battled it out for the Hertfordshire Village Cup.

For the second consecutive year, Weston CC were crowned champions, but not before overcoming a determined Flamstead side in a thrilling final that went right down to the wire. Chasing 155 for victory, Weston held their nerve to reach the target with just three balls remaining, finishing on 156/6 in 19.3 overs.

One of the standout moments of the day came in the final when Flamstead's Sandaru Liyanage produced a truly sensational boundary catch. It was a piece of fielding that would grace any level of cricket, and even in first-class cricket you would struggle to find many better.

The competition was played in an excellent spirit throughout, with all four clubs showcasing the very best of village cricket and providing a fantastic advert for the game.
