a great start to Hertfordshire's Championship season....

Match Report:
Northumberland CCC v Hertfordshire CCC
NCCA Championship: 11 - 13 July
Jesmond CC
Hertfordshire CCC started their 3 day championship season with a comprehensive victory over Northumberland in Jesmond, Newcastle.
A superb century by captain Reece Hussain, well supported by debutant Eshun Kalley and Richard Ellison ensured a decent total of 383 was posted in Hertfordshire’s first innings.
After that though rain and bad light intervened and the entire second day was washed out. Fortunately the clouds cleared on the third morning and with two forfeited innings Northumberland were left the whole day of 102 overs to try and chase 384 for victory.
Kalley, on loan from Essex took two early wickets and from then it was a procession with Luke Chapman claiming three before Kalley returned after lunch to wrap up the tail and finish with an excellent five wicket haul.
Overall an excellent result and trip and how good it was to be back playing multi day cricket.
