for Clubs and Leagues......
Dear All,
We hope you are all surviving the heatwave, this week we have some important information on the drought and energy saving tips as well as some dates for your diaries.
Best wishes
ECB, Participation and Growth Team
This season has been hot and very dry in many parts of England and Wales. We have worked with our partner the Grounds Management Association (GMA) to publish new guidance on:
1 - Watering Effectively and Efficiently
2 - Watering under drought restrictions
3 - Working safely in hot and sunny conditions
This includes guidance on what to do if you are under a Temporary Use Ban (hosepipe ban) or other drought restriction.
Clubs could be at risk of prosecution and fines if they are not watering in accordance with the law under Temporary Use Bans.
All clubs should read the guidance and act on it. Please make sure that your grounds manager has access to the link and the resources.
The guidance is on the GMA Toolkit for Cricket our free knowledge resource for cricket grounds managers.
We want you, your players and volunteers to have their say.
Hearing the voices of as many players and volunteers as possible, ensures we gain valuable feedback that will enable the game of cricket to keep evolving. The survey will launch on 18 August, and will be live until the beginning of September. Watch out for the link to the survey on 18 August!
In a week’s time, the Ruth Strauss Foundation will once again turn cricket red in support of families facing grief. With your help, the charity can continue to offer professional emotional support to families with a child facing the death of a parent. Lord’s will be hosting the #RedforRuth day on Thursday 18 August during the Men’s England vs South Africa Test match, and you can help us turn cricket communities across the country red at the same time to raise funds and awareness. We’d love for you to get involved, either during the Test Match or at a time that suits you and your clubs during August.
Help us turn cricket #RedforRuth this summer by:
• Asking clubs and groups to host a #RedforRuth fundraising event
• Sharing posts on social media tagging #RedforRuth and #TurnCricketRed
• Encouraging clubs and players to turn social media channels red

The ECB is currently developing a game-wide Sustainability Strategy that will help drive change in cricket in England and Wales.
Because of the energy crisis we are bringing forward a new guide to reducing energy consumption, to help clubs take steps to reduce their energy consumption, cut their emissions and cut their bills this winter.
The guide is on our website – download now to find out how you could save and whether you are eligible for ECB support.
