Hertfordshire Secondary Schools Super 8's Under 13 and Under 15 Festivals.....
Secondary Schools from all across Hertfordshire have been involved in outdoor cricket tournaments following the success of the indoor tournaments earlier on in the year. Hertfordshire's Chance to Compete "Super 8's" competitions were blessed with good weather, fantastic settings and a good quality of cricket, which typified the ever improving girls development programmes within the county. The Festivals formed part of Yorkshire Tea National Cricket Week 2017.
The Under 13 tournament took place on Tuesday 20th June at Stevenage Cricket Club. Ten schools from across the county competed in the tournament which was of a very high standard this year. Eventual winners Tring (pictured below), beat Herts & Essex in a highly contested final, will now go on to the regional finals for their age group next month.
The Under 15 festival took place on Thursday 22nd June at Bishops Stortford Cricket Club, Eight schools from around Hertfordshire travelled to compete in what was the best festival of the week. Some brilliant tactical cricket was played across the board and eventual winners Tring (pictured below), who won a close final against Beaumont to complete the u13's and u15's double, will go on to the regional finals as well.
The tournaments were a great opportunity for girls to be able to compete against each other, with everyone enjoying themselves and embracing the power and the spirit of cricket!
Chances to Compete Super 8's tournaments are taking place across the country due to the Chance to Shine programme. Now well into its 2nd Innings, the Chance to Shine campaign continues to motivate and educate youngsters through cricket, with more girls than ever playing last year.
Hertfordshire Cricket would like to thank Stevenage and Bishop's Stortford Cricket Club's for their help and support in hosting the competitions and to all the schools for taking part and congratulations to our winners Tring School.
