Applications Open for Autumn 2026 Young Antlers Programme
Do you have a young cricketer ready to take the next step in their development? The Young Antlers programme is the starting point of the Hertfordshire Talent Pathway, designed to identify and nurture promising players aged U10-U12 (School Years 5-7).
Open to both boys and girls, Young Antlers provides aspiring cricketers with the opportunity to develop their skills in a high-quality environment and begin their journey through the Hertfordshire performance pathway.
Boys Young Antlers
The Boys Young Antlers programme is open to players who have experience of hard ball cricket, or who are ready to make the transition, and have played at least one season of competitive cricket for a Hertfordshire-based club.
Players should be able to demonstrate the fundamental skills of cricket, including bowling with a straight arm and having a good understanding of the laws of the game.
There is no club nomination and no trial required to apply. Players will initially be grouped by age, with coaches monitoring development throughout the winter programme.
Girls Young Antlers
The Girls Young Antlers programme is the first stage of the Hertfordshire Girls Talent Pathway and welcomes players who have experience of hard ball cricket or are ready to make the transition.
Typically, applicants will have completed a season of club league cricket or participated in at least two seasons of national programmes such as Dynamos Cricket. Players should also demonstrate the core skills required to progress within the pathway.
As with the boys programme, there is no club nomination and no trial process, making the programme accessible to any player ready for the next challenge.
Talent Development Framework
Throughout the programme, players' progress will be assessed against the Hertfordshire Talent Development Framework (TDF). The framework outlines the skills, behaviours and attributes required to progress through the county pathway.
Players who do not demonstrate the required standards over the course of the winter may not be invited to continue within the programme.
