John Favager (1934–2026)

Hertfordshire cricket is saddened by the passing of John Favager, who died on 16 August 2026 at the age of 91.

John dedicated many years of service to cricket in the county. He first became involved in 1983, taking over the running of the Under 15 Club Competition, before serving as Chairman of the Junior Cricket Leagues for 22 years until his retirement in 2006. In recognition of his outstanding contribution, he was elected a Vice-President of Hertfordshire County Cricket Association.

John's commitment to junior cricket helped create opportunities for generations of young players, and his legacy lives on through the Under 17 competition, which continues to be played for the John Favager Cup.

We extend our sincere condolences to John's family and friends at this sad time. He will be fondly remembered throughout Hertfordshire cricket.
