by beating Buckinghamshire and Dorset CCC at Wormsley on Sunday.....
It was a memorable day on Sunday at Wormsley where Hertfordshire won the Minor Counties T20 competition in convincing style. After Dorset beat Lincolnshire in the first semi-final by 11 runs, Hertfordshire won the toss and elected to batin their semi-final against Bucks. An excellent innings by Reece Hussain, who scored 67 in 42 balls, was well supported by Steve Gale, Rishi Patel, Tanveer Sikandar, Jamie Southgate and Ben Frazer all of whom reached double figures enabling us to score 180 for 8 in our 20 overs. In reply Saif Zaib (86) played the best innings of the day and Bucks were well ahead of the required run rate as they reached 50 in 5.2 overs, 100 in 10.1 overs and 150 in 16.4 overs. It was at this point that the bowlers won the game restricting Bucks to 18 runs in the final three overs which won by the game by 12 runs.
In the final, Dorset won the toss and elected to bat and a combination of excellent bowling, fielding and field placing restricted Dorset to scoring only five boundaries in their 20 overs. Felix Organ batted throughout their innings scoring 48 off 49 balls with only one boundary. In reply Harry Ellison and Rishi Patel took centre stage. Ellison's 62 not out won the Man of the Match Award and Rishi Patel won the game with two straight sixes.
A convincing win with 7.1 overs to spare but a real team effort set up by the bowlers Sikander 1 for 12, Waring 2 for 17, Frazer 3 for 23, Ravi Patel 2 for 24 and Mehta 0 for 27.
