for Clubs and Leagues......
Dear Clubs
This week's bulletin contains guidance from the ECB, information on filmmaking courses from BFI and a link to register for NatWest CricketForce Get Set Weekend.
Following the Government’s updated guidance for outdoor organised sports around the easing of social restrictions in England on 29th March, we are delighted to confirm the return of recreational cricket in England from that date. We know that our communities, players and volunteers will have missed the social, physical and health benefits of participating in our great game and we believe we have an important role to play in supporting the nations recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.
Importantly, we also know that we have a collective responsibility to ensure the safety of our communities by ensuring compliance with the latest Government guidance.
For England, we have produced an updated roadmap and accompanying documents (linked below) in order to provide you with the headline information on what activities are permissible from 29th March onwards.
For Wales, we will continue to work closely with Sport Wales and Cricket Wales to provide the accompanying guidance.
Today we are pleased to announce an exciting partnership with the British Film Institute (BFI) to fund – First Run: BFI Filmmaking and Production for Sports – a bespoke course for aspiring filmmakers from the cricket network to improve their film skills, to be able to showcase and promote their clubs more effectively.
Five representatives from cricket clubs and centres across England and Wales will be given the opportunity to take part in a 15-week online course on filmmaking and production in sport led by the BFI, designed exclusively for and with the ECB.
The scheme is funded by #Funds4Runs, launched in 2020 by ECB and LV= General Insurance (LV=GI) to support areas of recreational cricket affected by COVID-19.
Applicants can apply for the First Run course from today for the opportunity to learn from industry-leading film tutors how to create compelling films showcasing the character of their club. It will equip them with editing, communication, digital and planning skills, enabling them to create a variety of exciting video content.
This is an amazing opportunity, and we’d encourage you to pass this on to relevant people within your club you think could be perfect for this exclusive course.
Last week we communicated the launch of the NatWest Get Set Weekend on 10th and 11th April, a new look virtual CricketForce.
There are already over 600 people signed-up, and we’d encourage all of you to get involved, reconnect with your team mates and club, and join the Get Set Weekend online. You can register for the Big Quiz featuring legends and England stars, and a special Get Set Panel event, hosted by Michael Vaughan, to help prepare for the new season. There will also be Back Garden Training features for teams posted throughout the weekend.
