reminder to all parents to monitor junior player bowling workloads....
.
Now that the cricket season is in full swing we hope that all junior players are enjoying putting into practice the skills which they have learnt over the winter.
Junior cricketers are often playing for at least one age group at a club, for their school and may be for us as a County. In addition to this many will be playing adult cricket on Saturdays for their clubs. With all of this in mind it is important that parents are aware of the strain that fast bowling takes on their bodies.
Whilst the coach / captain at each match will know how many overs they are allowed to bowl in the game they will often not be aware of all the other matches that they have played in during the week or practice sessions they have attended.
Therefore, it is up to parents to monitor this, the players will just want to bowl as much as possible!
The ECB guidelines state:
For guidance it is recommended that in any 7 day period a fast bowler should not bowl more than 4 days in that period and for a maximum of 2 days in a row.
