Hertfordshire Cricket aims to help & support it's Cricket Network increase participation in the game - and not only wants to encourage brand new players to the game, but also to attract back players who have stopped playing for whatever reason.
To encourage new people to try cricket, lapsed players to pick up a bat again and existing players to play more, there are lots of different playing opportunities for all ages and abilities, these include club cricket, indoor cricket and new shorter formats of the game.
Increasing participation in and improving the standard of youth cricket at both school and club level is a continuous aim for Hertfordshire Cricket. We recognise the importance of offering high-quality opportunities for today's young cricketers so that children are inspired to play cricket and so that we can continue to produce high-quality representative teams and, hopefully, future First Class and England cricketer.
In terms of competition for adult cricket there are various league and cup competitions that Hertfordshire clubs participate in. The largest league being the Saracens Hertfordshire Cricket League, catering for 270 teams. In addition to league and cup cricket there are many other ways in which you can enjoy adult cricket. For example, there is an excellent indoor cricket structure within the county and there is Over 50s cricket also on offer.
The majority of junior club cricket is provided by the Ashurst Hertfordshire Junior Cricket League, who do a phenomenal job providing a wide variety of different forms of the game for our clubs junior players. This is also supplemented by a good indoor cricket structure across the winter months.
