Through Inclusive Initiatives.......
.
Hertfordshire Cricket has delivered a dynamic and impactful programme, strengthening its commitment to inclusivity by engaging with new and underrepresented communities across the county.
Working in partnership with local charity Herts Welcomes, Hertfordshire Cricket launched an eight-week initiative aimed at supporting people seeking asylum in the UK who are currently living in migrant accommodation. The programme brought together 14 participants from a wide range of backgrounds, including individuals from Afghanistan and South Sudan, using cricket as a platform to build connections, promote wellbeing, and create a welcoming community environment.
In a further collaboration with Hertfordshire County Council, the organisation hosted a dedicated cricket day for Separated Migrant Children at Stevenage Cricket Club. The event welcomed 26 young people from diverse cultural backgrounds, introducing them to the game while providing an opportunity to socialise, build confidence, and stay active. Ten County Council staff also attended the day to gain insight into how cricket can support both physical health and mental wellbeing.

Hertfordshire Cricket continues to broaden its reach in Stevenage, most recently establishing links with the local Muslim community. This has initiated conversations around the development of new programmes with diverse communities designed to engage young people who are new to the sport, helping to create sustainable pathways into cricket .
These initiatives underline Hertfordshire Cricket’s ongoing mission to make the game accessible to all, using sport to unite communities, inspire participation, and foster a sense of belonging across the county.
