Club Safeguarding Officers are vital members of the club and key to making an environment safe, welcoming and friendly for children to enjoy the game of cricket.
Why do clubs need a Club Safeguarding Officer?
Whilst everyone is responsible for safeguarding, the Club Safeguarding Officer will make sure the policies and procedures are in place, and that everyone who should be vetted to work with children, is vetted by the ECB.
They are the person that others come to if they have concerns, and having attended specific training, will know what to do in order to assist, or who to ask for further help.
All Affiliated Clubs in Hertfordshire are required to have a nominated and trained Club Welfare Officer.
If you are thinking about appointing a new Club Safeguarding Officer, please look at the document at the bottom of this page which will outline the Roles & Responsibilities of this position and may help with recruitment.
The nominated officer must undertake the following training and complete an ECB Enhanced DBS check:
- ECB Safeguarding Level 2 (ECB Online Course) or Safeguarding for Specialist Roles : Committee & Safeguarding Officers Course (if still dated within last 3 years)
- ECB Safe Hands for Club Safeguarding Officer's Workshop (ECB Face to Face Course)
Both of these training courses have to be renewed after a period of 3 years.
