Young Antlers is the Explore Stage of our Talent Development Framework where:
• Multiple sports encouraged
• Opportunities for players to explore different roles when batting, bowling and fielding.
• Enjoy playing Cricket
• Explore basic technique of all elements.
• Opportunities for those who are exceeding peer level
• Incorporate basic functional movements through play and training.
• Plenty of opportunity to play
Hertfordshire Cricket do not run official County Age Group squads below U13, however, it is acknowledged that players of all ages benefit from effective talent development (coaching, competition, agility and team work). Therefore, the Summer programme incorporates both training and intra-squad matches, aiming to achieve some of the following purposes:
- A variety of formats and rules to create a wider range of quality match-play experiences
- Different teams (intra-squad) in order to provide a variety of team skills and dynamics
- Engage as many player as possible from the winter programme
- Develop confidence and enjoyment within cricket
During the Explore Stage it is essential to combine a high-quality player experience with broad numbers to best promote transition the latter stages of the game.
