From September 2021, Hertfordshire Cricket will run a completely linked performance pathway for Girls from U11 to the Women's 1st XI.
The following has been formulated after lengthy discussion and agreement with the ECB.
U11 TO U15 - COUNTY AGE GROUP (CAG) AND COUNTY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMME (DEV)
At U11 - U15 (School Years 6 - 10) Hertfordshire are running CAG and DEV Programmes. The Development squad is the sole feeder to the CAG squads. Girls develop physically and mentally at very different rates. Therefore, Hertfordshire young cricketers will be moved between the Development and CAG squads dependant on what suits each individual at that time. Our remit is the development of each child and helping them become the best adult cricketer they can be.
Winter indoor training takes place between October and March. In the summer, for both CAG and Development players, there will be a mixture of training days involving match play scenarios, official CAG matches (U13 and U15 CAG squads) and also intra squad festival days. All matches and training will be hard ball.
U18 COUNTY AGE GROUP
At U18 (School Years 11 - 13) Hertfordshire will be running Winter indoor training between October and March and will include strength and conditioning provision. In the summer there will be official ECB 40 Over and T20 competition matches as well as friendlies.
We also run a small winter Development squad at this age group to take into account the large age gap between U15 and U18 to enable some players to remain in the system who have exceeded the U15 age group but are not yet ready for the main U18 CAG squad.
WOMEN'S 1ST XI
The full representative side of Hertfordshire County Cricket Club.
Winter indoor training takes place between September and March. In the summer there will be official ECB T20 fixtures and East of England Women's County Championship fixtures and friendlies v's other counties.
SUNRISERS
(ACADEMY, EMERGING PLAYERS AND SENIORS)
Those who excel through U15, U18 or even Hertfordshire Women may progress to the Sunrisers.
The Sunrisers was formed as one of eight regional hubs competing in the new Women’s Elite Domestic Structure, which covers the region of the three first-class counties of Middlesex, Essex and Northamptonshire, Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC), and the national counties of Hertfordshire, Cambridgeshire, Suffolk, Norfolk and Bedfordshire and Huntingdonshire.
The Sunrisers Senior team compete in the ECB Women’s Elite Domestic Competition, and are a team featuring the best players from across the region and country. In addition, the Sunrisers structure will deliver a performance programme at Academy and Emerging Player level, aimed at developing the breadth of talent across the region.
