Martin Olley.......
.
It is with much sadness that we report that Martin Olley, aged 61, died at the end of last month. He played 46 championship matches for Hertfordshire between 1984 and 1990.
Martin was educated at Felsted School leaving in 1982 when “Wisden” described him as an outstanding wicket-keeper. He made his first class debut the following year for Northamptonshire against Cambridge University as well as a further four first class matches for Middlesex in 1988, deputising for Paul Downton.
Martin made his debut for the County in 1984 and, between 1985 and 1989, he made 42 consecutive championship appearances, receiving his County Cap in 1987. He scored 1,062 runs (ave 21.67) and made 71 dismissals (54 catches and 17 stumpings). He played the majority of his club cricket in Hertfordshire for Hitchin CC, Welwyn Garden City CC and Stevenage CC.
We send our sincere condolences to Linda and their family at this very difficult time.
