Welwyn Garden City 238-7 Hatfield 274-4 (Hatfield conceded due to over age players)
Both teams eager to play 1st match of the season, Hatfield fielded mixed age range which was agreed with WGC. WGC won the toss, Captian Nick decided to bowl first. Pierce bowled out Sam in 1st over of the match, other wickets taken by Keaton, James and Max. Hatfield brothers Jack & Luke notched up nett total of 30 runs without loss. Well done to Rebecca for her gutsy performance.
Max & Nick opened for WGC but unfortunately lost 2 wickets; Pierce & Ethan partnership got 11 runs without loss, Adam and Owen played a careful partnership not taking opportunities to run and lost 2 wickets. Keaton and James last to bat, both appeared over eager attempting to slog for 4 and lacked communication resulting in the loss of 3 wickets in their partnership. Fun for all but a lot for WGC to take back to the training ground to concentrate on. |
