On a perfect sunny evening WGC won the toss deciding to bat first, openers Pierce and James played defensively to Freddie's 1st over, a maiden helped by some good fielding by Old Albanian. Alex bowled James who was eager to find the boundary which he did eventually with a superb hit. Max and Owen's partnership was steady, unfortunately for Max he was bowled by Jack on the 1st ball of his 1st over. Ollie and Nic notched up the run rate without losing wickets although they did run into each other between the wickets! Final batting pair Keaton and Ethan both lost consecutive wickets to some great bowling by Freddie, the pair ran well between the wicket with Keaton finding the boundary 3 times.
Lewie and Jack opened for Old Albanian losing 2 wickets in the 1st over, with Jack being bowled by Pierce then a good catch by James. Keaton followed up with a great throw to the stumps for a run out. Adam and James keen to notch up runs lost 4 wickets with some excellent bowling by Nick and a maiden over for Max. Adam hit the ball for a great boundary. Alex and Scott batted steadily again while WCG fielded well with Ollie making a couple of good stops. Both Oliver and Freddie found the boundary trying hard to increase the run rate, the final wicket going to Ethan.
Enjoyable match to watch with both teams displaying great team spirit. |
